A legislation has been introduced in the US House of Representatives which among other things calls for more than doubling the minimum salary of H-1B visa holders to $130,000 (roughly Rs. 89 lakhs), making it difficult for firms to use the programme to replace American employees with foreign workers, including from India.
I have around 8 year work experience and literally everyone I know or knew who are or were working in US using H1B visa are doing work that can be done by someone without college experience ie) they are not geniuses who are the only one qualified for the job. This entire H1B scheme is just a way for companies to screw over the native population to save money and don’t care if people around them lose their livelihood. This Bill by Zoe Lofgren of California aims to address the issues and let’s hope it passes through.
